Father Marc Marie de Rotz, a French missionary, was willing to spend his private funds building and operating facilities in the Sotome area, where many poor hidden Christians lived.
Let’s learn the history of Hidden Christians at the Father De Rotz Memorial Museum!
In 1882, Father Marc Marie de Rotz devoted his personal funds in building a solid and robust Shitsu Church. This church was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018.
The Kurosaki Church that was built in 1920 is set in Shusaku Endo’s novel ”Silence”.
